Temporary Power

TEMPORARY POWER

What is necessary to get jobsite temporary power, installation and disconnection?

  • Apply for temporary service by specifying it in the request for power form (in addition to the type of main service eventually needed.)
  • While we don’t guarantee the availability of temporary service, we provide it as often as possible when the situation dictates. We’All disconnect the temporary when we come out to hook up the main meter.

What equipment does an electrician provide for underground jobsite temporary power?
Electricians will install their own pedestal (not one picked up at the cooperative) and run their own wire for the pedestal.

What equipment does an electrician provide for overhead jobsite temporary power?
Roughrider will install all overhead meter loops, risers and temporary meter sockets. Electricians should not attempt to install their own.

For jobsite temporary power, is it ok to use the permanent utility transformer and the primary wire if they have already been set and pulled in? Could an electrician install an additional 2” conduit with the secondary conduit run, then pull wire and set a single phase meter rated for a 200 amps?
Yes, if the transformer is already set this plan works for us.
