Electric Car

1970

  • May 1970, Oliver-Mercer had 1,500 consumers with 1,376 miles of line energized.

1972

  • The largest Oliver-Mercer account in 1972 was the Glenharold Mine, Western Division of Consolidation Coal Company in Stanton.
  • The co-op’s 25th-anniversary annual meeting was held in June 1972, with 400 people attending.

1973

  • January 1973, the new 2,500-KVA Hazen substation was energized.  It is located four miles north of Hazen. 
  • First-ever evening annual meeting was held in June 1973.  There was a turnout of about 460 people.

1975

Headquarters Building

  • Construction began on the new headquarters building for Oliver-Mercer in May 1975.
  • Construction was completed and moving started in January 1976.

1978

  • At 7 a.m., on Oct. 5, 1978, KHOL radio station started broadcasting over the air.  Oliver-Mercer supplies electricity to the station.
  • November 1978, the total of consumers was 2,571, miles of line was 1,554 and average farm KWH usage for a month was 1,345.
