How we restore the power (pdf)
Updated 04/16/2010 at 4:00pm:
At 5:00 pm Friday afternoon, 4/09/2010, power has been restored to all occupied dwellings.
We have pulled our crews in for the weekend for a much needed rest.
There are still many poles down and wire on the ground.
Please stay away from any downed lines.
2 of our outside contractors will be staging out of the Hazen yard to help with Mor-Gran-Sou’s outage in the northern part of their system.
We are keeping 4 outside contractors here to help set the remaining poles and get wires back up.
We are awaiting the arrival of 2 transmission poles to replace the downed poles on the transmission line north of center.
Members should be aware that they may experience short outages from time to time as we work to restore the rest of our system.
Roughrider Electric would like to thank everyone for their patience during this outage.
Updated 04/08/2010 at 4:00pm:
Well, the weather has been great and has helped with speeding up the restoration of our system.
Our Crews have still been working very long hours.
Over 300 poles have been replaced so far of the 535 downed poles, and we are still waiting for the arrival of 2 transmission poles, so we can replace the 2 broken poles on the line north of center.
We are now hoping to have all of our occupied accounts to be on by Friday night, if everything goes well.
This is great news.
We still have a tremendous amount of work to repair the rest of the system.
Members should expect some short outages after the power is restored while we are repairing other lines.
The understanding and patience of our members during this outage has been very much appreciated.
Updated 04/07/2010 at 4:00 pm:
The downed pole count is now at 535 poles.
By tonight we should have about 50% of the poles set for getting the power back on to everyone.
There will still be additional poles to set.
We estimate a little under 200 people still without power.
The weather conditions are great, making everything go a lot faster.
We are hoping to have power restored to all members by Sunday night or Monday sometime.
Updated 04/06/2010 at 11:45am:
We now estimate that we have about 425 distribution poles on the ground.
250 people still without power.
Two more outside contractors arrived today so we will have a total of about 60 extra lineman helping with the effort.
Tim Volk, Line Superintendent Hazen, said we should be a long way in the restoration effort by Friday depending on the weather.
Some people should still expect possibly up to 10 days without power.
We are hoping the moisture stays away. As conditions dry up it will make it a lot easier to get around.
